Hebrews 12: 1-3 “Therefore since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw aside everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of the faith. For the joy set before Him, He endured the cross, scorning it’s shame and is set down at the right hand of God. Consider Him that endured such opposition from sinners, so that we will not grow weary and lose heart.”
Since October, I’ve trained for a half-marathon. The training taught me a lot about planning, goal-setting, perseverance, and running. My motivation was the Mardi Gras Marathon, February 13, 2011. I am thankful for the encouragement and advice from Phil and our son, Mike (Mike ran the full marathon). I had a lot of setbacks along the way but I actually ran the race and finished! I still can’t believe I actually did it!
BTW: My finish time was 3 hours 23 minutes 11 seconds
The training helped prepare Phil and I for the new journey God has set for us in 2011…the journey of Ministry Partner Development (MPD). Just like training for the half-marathon, we will need to plan, set goals, and persevere. Phil and I are thankful for the support and encouragement we receive from our friends. We are excited that as soon as we raise our full financial support we can fully engage (once again) in children and family outreach!
On my next blog, I will share about our adventure in Boston, where we participated in an intense training camp led by the North American Mission Board (NAMB) to prepare us for Ministry Partner Developement.
