Six Floats to Tell His Story
In New Orleans, Mardi Gras is a HUGE occasion. The children even make shoebox floats for their classes, elect king and queens for their schools, and celebrate with their own parade!
When I read my friend, Patti Nodar McDonald’s, book, The Gospel Parade, I dreamed of creating a shoebox parade for the children I teach incorporating Patti’s story with CEF’s Story of the Beads. I didn’t have much time because my first presentation was in six days!!!!
God miraculously provided the help of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary CHESS homeschooled art class (special thanks to Laura Riley and art teacher, Monique Parker). I had the six floats I needed in 2 days time!
You can download Patti’s book, The Gospel Parade, for just $4.99 or purchase the book for $19.00 here.

Here are the floats in the Gospel Parade ( I included a parade band, for each float).
God promised long before Christ birth that He would send a Savior into the world, the Bible tells of God’s promise. “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel” Isaiah 7:14.
God kept His promise and sent His perfect Son Jesus. The heart represents His love for people, the gifts represent His gift of His Son. The red represents the blood He would shed. “Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord” Luke 2:11.
The Bible says, “Jesus is the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.” At birth, He was laid in a manger (a lambs feeding dish) a symbol of God’s plan for Jesus to become the sacrifice for the punishment of your sin and mine. The dark heart reminds us that He died for the punishment of our sin and the red reminds us of the blood He gave. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” John 3:16.
Jesus is the sinless Son of God; He came back alive on the third day after they buried Him. He was laid in a tomb (it looked like a cave and they rolled a large stone over the door but on Sunday Morning, the stone rolled away. The white represents the forgiveness of sin; God can cleanse us from the punishment of sin and become a child of God because Jesus lives! “It is true! The Lord has risen…” Luke 24:34
Since Jesus lives, we can have new life in Him. He will forgive our sins and give us His Holy Spirit to help us live a life pleasing to God. Jesus loves you and invites you to become a child of God. “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God” John 1:12.
Jesus is the King of King, He lives in Heaven and one day, everyone in the world will bow down to Jesus. He can rule as the king (boss) of your life today if you invite Him in! He wants to bless you with His love, peace, joy, and goodness, won’t you let Him? “…the Lamb will triumph over them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings—and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers” Revelation 17:14.
