How to Help Kids Memorize Scripture Using ABC Cards

Do you know when Timothy in the Bible’s mother and grandmother began teaching him scripture? At infancy (2 Timothy 3:15)! Just think how much scripture you would know today if you began learning in infancy!

One HUGE reason to teach your children scripture is the power for God’s Word to help children resist temptation (Psalm 119:9-11). I remember clearly as a child I wanted a lovely pin at a store, when I begged my mother and she refused, I concealed the pin in my hand with an attempt to steal. However, a voice in my conscience reminded me of the eighth commandment, “Do not steal.” I immediately let loose of the pin and went on my way. A few weeks later, my mother surprised me when she gave me the pin on my birthday! God’s Word kept me from sin that day! His Word still keeps me from sin today!

Do you know in Early American history they used scripture to teach the alphabet to children! Some Christian teachers preserved that tradition and you can still use the ABC’s to teach children scripture today! Click here for a great webpage with ABC memory verse cards you can download for free!
